In Architecture Grid, Stacey Lee Webber meticulously hand-saws architectural elements from foreign and American coins, creating a delicate yet structured arrangement of buildings and monuments. Each coin fragment, cut manually with a traditional jeweler’s saw, is mounted on brass posts, soldered, and carefully inserted into a painted wood backing. Encased in a handmade steel frame with an acrylic face, the piece transforms currency into a cityscape of history and craftsmanship. By extracting and reassembling these structures, Architecture Grid invites viewers to reflect on the permanence of architecture, the passage of time, and the universal symbols of power and place embedded in everyday currency.
